Cases Lacambra appoints Fernando Gutiérrez Rizaldos as partner in Financial Services

Published on April 2026

Cases Lacambra has appointed Fernando Gutiérrez Rizaldos as a new partner in its Financial Services practice to lead the regulatory and funds area in Spain, in line with the firm’s strategy for growth and consolidation in the market.

Fernando’s arrival forms part of the evolution of the firm’s Financial Services practice and its commitment to strengthening its market position. With his appointment, Cases Lacambra now has four partners in this area, creating a cross-practice team that spans transactional work and financial regulation, with an industry-focused approach that positions the firm as a distinctive legal operator in the market.

This step reinforces the firm’s presence in advising financial institutions, investors and corporates in an environment shaped by increasingly sophisticated transactions, growing regulatory demands, and ongoing transformation in the sector, both domestically and internationally.

“Fernando’s appointment is part of our strategy to strengthen our role as advisers to financial market participants. His experience and profile allow us to continue advancing our positioning and our ability to deliver highly specialised advice on complex transactions and regulatory matters,” said Miguel Cases, Chairman of the firm.

Fernando has more than twenty years of experience and brings a highly specialised practice in financial regulation and debt matters.

He is a leading lawyer in advising credit institutions, investment firms, insurers, asset managers, payment institutions, electronic money institutions, and crypto-asset service providers on highly complex matters such as structural changes, authorizations, and the establishment of funds (UCITS, AIFMs, and securitization vehicles), as well as on international expansion processes through EU passports regimes.

He combines his regulatory expertise with advice on complex financings. Throughout his career, he has advised both lenders and borrowers on real estate, project finance, corporate and asset finance transactions, as well as LBOs, refinancings, and debt issuances, including security structures in cross-border contexts.

In addition to his professional practice, Fernando has served as company secretary for numerous companies, including listed companies and regulated entities, and has been a board member of both public and private companies.

Fernando also combines his legal practice with teaching. He has been a lecturer in Commercial Law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) and at Universidad Carlos III of Madrid, and has collaborated with various academic institutions.

Fernando Gutiérrez commented: “I am joining Cases Lacambra with great enthusiasm. It is a firm with a very strong market position and an ambitious project. I am confident that, together with the team, we will continue to develop a leading practice in the financial services sector.”
